Petrotog (CR +1 Monster Template)
Petrotogs are undead creatures that have been reanimated by the toxicity of the Sunken Mire. Although generally aquatic animals, any creature that is unlucky enough to be swallowed by the mire may become a petrotog.
Any creature of size large or smaller can becoming a petrotog. Petrotogs most commonly based off of animals, such as the Petrotog, Constrictor.
CR: Same as the base creature +1.
Type: The creature’s type becomes undead. It keeps subtypes except for alignment subtypes and subtypes that indicate kind.
Alignment: Chaotic evil.
Senses: A petrotog gains darkvision to a range of 60 feet if the base creature did not already have it.
Armor Class: Natural armor improves by +2.
Hit Dice: Drop HD gained from class levels (minimum of 1) and change racial HD to d8s. Petrotogs gain a number of additional HD as noted on the following table.

Defensive Abilities: Petrotogs lose their defensive abilities and gain all of the qualities and immunities granted by the undead type. Petrotogs also gain DR 5/slashing.
Speed: A petrotog acquires a swim speed equal to its original speed. If the base creature possessed a fly speed, it loses it.
Attacks: A petrotog retains all the natural weapons of the base creature.
Special Attacks: A petrotog retains all of the base creature’s special attacks.
Special Qualities: A petrotog gains the following special qualities
Lingering Compulsion (Su)
Although possessing no intelligence, remnants of a petrotog’s base hunting and survival instincts persist. A petrotog may make Survival skill checks using double its hit dice as a skill modifier, as long as the task it is trying to accomplish is related to stalking its prey.
Mire Bound (Su)
Petrotogs are bound to the Sunken Mire, and will not wilfully leave the body of water (even if they possess the ability to walk on land). A petrotog takes 1d4 points of strength damage for each round it is removed from the Sunken Mire. Once it reaches 0 strength, the creature becomes inert and will not move nor defend itself.
Once re-introduced into the Sunken Mire, a petrotog will gain its strength back at the rate of one point per round.
Abilities: Str +2, Dex –2. A petrotog has no Con or Int score, and its Wis and Cha become 10.
Skills: A petrotog has no skill ranks.
